REDISCOVERING NAXOS

Martin Outram, viola player of the Maggini Quartet, and Roderick Chadwick, lecturer and researcher, explore Peter Maxwell Davies’ Naxos Quartets, recorded during the 2000s. They discuss the composer’s musical language, the works’ subjects – from Borromini to Iraq – and the demands of performing a cycle of such size. This event forms part of the Unforgetting Modernism Research Network, which is based at the Academy, and features the performance of excerpts from the cycle by Academy students.
